Staff Training

  • This daylong training is intended for professional staff, direct-care staff and family who are charged with the care, training and supervision of persons with intellectual disabilities. Training will include an overview of intellectual disabilities and the implications for effective care. Major objectives of the training include:

    •Developing sensitivity to the experience and needs of persons with intellectual disabilities.


    •Developing an appreciation of how the brain develops and implications of the environment.

    •Develop an understanding of major mental illness and how psychiatric illness is expressed in persons with intellectual disabilities.

    •An overview of Behavior Modification and Positive Behavioral Supports

    •Overview of Suicide

    •Developing a Sense of Purpose and Professionalism in the Mental Health Field

  • This daylong training is intended for professional staff, direct-care staff and family who are charged with the care and supervision of elderly persons who exhibit difficult to manage behavior. Training will include an overview of dementia and the implications for effective care.

    Major objectives of the training include:

    •Developing sensitivity to the experience and needs of persons suffering from dementia and co-occuring psychiatric conditions.

    •Developing an appreciation of how the brain develops and implications of the environment.

    •Develop an understanding of major mental illness and how psychiatric illness is expressed in the elderly.

    •An overview of Behavior Modification and Positive Behavioral Supports

    •Developing a Sense of Purpose and Professionalism in the Mental Health Field
